The relationship between Concentration and Bond

Concentration refers to the percentage of abrasive in the abrasive layer, The concentration has a significant effect on the grinding efficiency and processing cost of the abrasive; The material used to bond the abrasive is called a binder, which determines the strength, hardness, heat and corrosion resistance of the grinding wheels.
Different types of binders due to their different binding capacity, the best concentration range is also different, the higher the bonding agent strength, the higher the concentration range.
In accordance with industry practice,
the resin binder grinding wheels generally choose 75%-100% concentration,
metal binder agent generally choose 75%-150% concentration,
ceramic binder and diamond abrasive combination, should use 150% concentration, ceramic binder and CBN Abrasive should be selected when the concentration of 200%,
when the use of electroplating process, should use 200% concentration binder.
When we select the concentration, there are several principles we can follow:
1. For the same binder, CBN abrasive concentration is generally slightly higher than the diamond abrasive.
2. For the finer choice of abrasive grain size, the concentration should be lower to meet those fine-grained abrasive for precision grinding.
3. If you want to obtain the effect of polishing or high-precision grinding, should take a low concentration of resin binder abrasive.
4. For high processing efficiency of the coarse grinding process, the use of coarse-grained, high-concentration abrasive grinding, this can be better Meet the processing efficiency and process requirements.
