Part 1: Grinding Wheels could be used for Flute Milling Cutter;
To get rid of those aluminum oxide (AO) or "pink" wheels and start sharpening Milling Flute using the hardest materials on earth - Diamond for carbide chains or CBN for steel chains.
These wheels have a full radius and need no reshaping unlike the pink wheels to sharp Flute Milling, where in some instances you have to do this every Teeth. Eliminates the tooth burning because you do not have to force the wheel due to the harder abrasive and also the metal core of the wheel dissipates any small amount of heat generated.
There is virtually no dust as the diamond or CBN does not break up during the grinding operation. These Super Abrasive wheels fit in most sharpeners and come in the same dimensional sizes as the pink wheels. They are also available for most chain pitches of 1/4, .325, 3/8, and .404.They can last for thousands of chains with little to no maintenance. They are very cost effective, where the price of one wheel may last longer than 5 to 10 pink wheels.
Part 2: The way to choose the proper Grinding Wheel for Flute Milling;
1. Are you sharpening steel or carbide Flute Milling? Most chains are steel.
2. If you are sharpening steel, you want to select a CBN (Borazon) abrasive.
3. If you are sharpening carbide, you want to select a diamond abrasive.
4. Never use CBN on carbide chains or diamond on steel chains.
5. What kind of cutter teeth are you sharpening?
